Heim Data, INC. DIGITAL FLIGHT RECORDERS SUPPORT NEW IRIG106 TELEMETRY STANDARD

Heim Data, Inc., a leading supplier of data acquisition, record and replay equipment, announces that its D200f systems now support the IRIG106 Chapter 10 standard. With modular signal interfacing and interchangeable media cartridges, the D200f provides highly flexible, modular solutions that can easily adapt to changing mission requirements in airborne and mobile applications. The new interface standard will lead to a revolution in the way airborne telemetry data is captured, recorded, analyzed, and distributed by standardizing the digital data format and other aspects of the specified solid state recording media.

The IRIG 106 Chapter 10 interface standard also provides well defined control and download interfaces that are now added to the D200f specification. The interfaces support requirements for inter-vendor playback of data for software-based de-commutation systems and hardware-based telemetry systems. For users of analysis applications integrated with hardware based data collection systems, the standard supports complete analog reconstruction of the original signal types while preserving accurate time coherency between channels. The standard supports record and reconstruction of a wide range of signal types, including Video, MIL-STD-1553, PCM, analog and discrete data.

The IRIG 106 Chapter 10 standard represents the culmination of several years effort by the Range Commanders Council, manufacturers and users to formulate a new standard for solid state flight recorders. Heim Data general manager, Johnny Pappas, said "The D200f is a well established and popular recorder within the flight test community. The new IRIG106 Chapter 10 compatibilities based on our long experience in recording a wide range of signal types using packet format and precision data time stamping technology. The ability to record data in a standardized format on multiple media types such as tape, hard disk or flash disk offers a wide range of affordable options that provide flexible and scaleable solutions for test program and operational requirements. The test community will benefit from rapid growth in the range of available pre- and post-flight support tools, and much less development time will be required to integrate third party products."

Introduction of the IRIG 106 Chapter 10 compliant D200f airborne recorder and compatible ground support equipment provides users with vital solutions to facilitate much needed data format and interface commonality for efficient data acquisition, distribution and analysis.
